We begin with a brief consultation to evaluate your skin lesion, confirm that it is appropriate for CryoPen® treatment, and answer any questions you may have before getting started.
The targeted lesion is treated using CryoPen®, which precisely freezes the area in a series of short freeze cycles. Most lesions are treated with three freeze applications, although this may vary depending on the size and type of lesion.
Before you leave, we'll review everything you can expect during the healing process and provide personalized aftercare instructions. Over the following days to weeks, the treated lesion will naturally dry, heal, and fall away as healthy skin is revealed
- Arrive with clean skin when possible and avoid wearing heavy makeup on the treatment area.
- Avoid excessive sun exposure or sunburn on the area being treated prior to your appointment.
- Let your provider know if the lesion has recently changed in size, shape, color, or appearance.
- Immediately after treatment, the area may become red, swollen, tender, or develop a small welt or blister.
- As the lesion heals, a small blister or scab may form before the treated area naturally dries and falls away. This is a normal part of the healing process.
- Do not pick, scratch, or peel the treated area. Allow the lesion to heal and separate naturally for the best cosmetic result.
- Keep the treated area clean and dry, and leave it open to the air whenever possible during the healing process.
- Gently cleanse the area with mild soap and water. Avoid applying creams, ointments, or salves unless otherwise directed by your provider.
No. CryoPen® is designed to treat benign (non-cancerous) skin lesions. Before every treatment, we carefully evaluate the area to determine whether it is appropriate for CryoPen®. If a lesion appears suspicious or cannot be confidently identified as benign, we will recommend evaluation by your primary care provider or a dermatologist before proceeding. Your safety and skin health will always come first.
Most clients tolerate CryoPen® very well. During treatment, you'll typically feel a brief cold or stinging sensation as the lesion is frozen. Any discomfort is temporary and usually resolves quickly once the treatment is complete.
Many lesions can be successfully treated in a single appointment. However, larger, thicker, or more stubborn lesions may require additional treatments to achieve the desired result.
CryoPen® is designed to precisely treat the lesion while minimizing disruption to the surrounding skin. Although every person heals differently, most clients heal with little to no noticeable scarring when proper aftercare instructions are followed.
CryoPen® treatment is priced based on the number of lesions treated during your appointment. Before treatment begins, we'll evaluate the area and provide an exact quote so you'll always know the cost upfront. For clients treating multiple lesions, the maximum treatment fee is $259, no matter how many eligible lesions are treated during that visit.
